Pompeo commented on new US sanctions against Belarus

"The US will use every tool at our disposal to hold accountable those who intend to undermine democracy," Pompeo wrote on Twitter.

He stressed that the State Department welcomes the decision of the US Treasury Department to impose sanctions against a number of Belarusian officials.

Earlier, the United States decided to impose sanctions on eight officials from Belarus.

On October 2, the EU put into effect a sanctions list for Belarus, including Karaev and the head of the country's CEC Lidia Yermoshina.
