Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said that his country signed with the United States - Friday - an agreement to strengthen military cooperation against common threats for a period of 10 years, between 2020 and 2030.

At the conclusion of an official visit by US Defense Secretary Mark Esper to Rabat, Bourita explained that this agreement comes within the framework of modernizing the military and defense industries in Morocco.

Esper emphasized that the agreement would open the doors of trilateral cooperation between Morocco, America and African countries, evidenced by the maneuvers of the "African Lion".

And in 2007, the "African Lion" maneuvers were launched between Morocco and the United States, with the participation of several African countries, to develop the field and combat skills of the participating forces.

On a parallel level, Lodi discussed with Esper - according to a Moroccan National Defense statement - strengthening military cooperation and promoting US investment in defense industry projects in Morocco.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper will conclude on Friday in Rabat a Maghreb tour, which included - in addition to Morocco - Tunisia and Algeria, and aimed at strengthening military cooperation with the countries of the Maghreb.
