China News Agency, Moscow, October 2 (Reporter Wang Xiujun) In response to EU sanctions, Belarus launched a list of equivalent sanctions on the 2nd.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova stated on the same day that according to its alliance obligations with Belarus, Belarus’ sanctions list was automatically adopted by Russia.

Earlier, European Council President Michel announced that in view of the recent situation in Belarus, the EU will impose sanctions on about 40 Belarusian officials from the 2nd.

In response to this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus issued a statement on the 2nd stating that as a response to EU sanctions, Belarus has launched a list of reciprocal sanctions starting on the 2nd.

According to diplomatic practice, this list will not be announced.

Zakharova stated on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 2nd that the sanctions introduced by the European Union are unilateral and illegal, and will lead to the weakening of international law.

The European Union did not play a constructive role and did not help stabilize the situation in Belarus. Instead, it followed the wishes of the member states that intend to further shake the internal affairs of Belarus.

Russia calls on the EU to carefully consider the dangerous consequences of this approach.

Zakharova stated that in accordance with the alliance obligations between Russia and Belarus, the sanctions list introduced by Belarus will be automatically adopted by Russia from the effective date.

Belarus held presidential elections on August 9, and the current President Lukashenko won the election with high votes.

On the night of the election, people from many places in Belarus held rallies to protest the election process and results.

The protests have not yet completely subsided.
