Has Donald Trump blocked the vaccine obligation in the United States?

"Canceled Chinese 5G" and "immediately validated Professor Raoult's treatment" against the coronavirus?

A viral image credits the US president with a series of eight actions, ranging from monetary sovereignty to the arrest of pedophiles, without giving any sources.

This image has been circulating online since the end of May, but continues to be relayed on social networks.

A second version, in English, also circulated.

  • “He blocked the vaccine obligation.

    "

Is it right ?

No.

In the United States, it is not the federal government but each state that decides the number of compulsory vaccines for schoolchildren and immunization exemptions.

All states have therefore established a list of compulsory vaccines for children attending school in the public, remind the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the federal body responsible for public health.

Donald Trump, who has repeatedly expressed anti-vaccination positions, now supports the production of a vaccine against Covid-19, underlines

The New York Times

.

  • “He nationalized the Federal Reserve and returned monetary sovereignty to the US.

    "

Is it right ?

Again, the document does not mention a source.

Donald Trump has made public on several occasions his differences with the President of the Federal Reserve.

However, the reserve does not depend on the US presidency.

The institution also recalled last November that it made its decisions on monetary policy "based solely on a prudent, objective and non-political analysis".

  • “He cut funds for the WHO, which failed to warn the world in time.

    "

Is it right ?

Donald Trump has engaged in a battle with the WHO, which he accuses of "acting at the request of China" in the management of the coronavirus epidemic.

On May 29, Donald Trump announced "to end" his relations with the international organization.

The United States were, before this announcement, the first contributors to the budget of the organization.

WHO is funded by voluntary contributions from countries, but also by contributions calculated according to the number of inhabitants of the country and its wealth.

Donald Trump did not specify what types of contributions he was targeting.

As

USA Today

spotted

, the United States made payments to the WHO between May 31 and August 31 as a mandatory contribution, meaning that the country has contributed to the WHO budget since. Donald Trump's statements.

  • “He overturned the Democrats' bill that sought to trace the population.

    "

Is it right ?

This is an allusion to a bill introduced on May 1 by Bobby Rush, a Democrat member of Congress.

The purpose of this text is to authorize the CDC to distribute funds to mobile units to fight against Covid-19.

These funds are intended, according to the text, to set up tests and research of contacts, in priority areas.

This bill has raised concern because it indicates the possibility of conducting tests at home.

"This bill does not allow anyone to enter your home, for any reason, without your permission, and it also does not allow the government to remove someone from your home because of the coronavirus," he said. clarified the team of Bobby Rush.

With this text, the elected official wants to allow mobile units to go door to door in areas with limited access to health services.

The text is only in draft form: it has not yet been voted on and its progress within Congress has not progressed since May 1.

  • “He opened a platform to denounce the abuse and censorship of social networks.

    "

Is it right ?

On May 15, 2019, the White House announced that it had opened a site calling on Americans to testify if they considered themselves victims of “censorship” on social media because of “political prejudice”.

The site can no longer receive testimonials, at the time of this writing.

Donald Trump regularly accuses platforms like Twitter and Facebook of political “bias”.

The Ministry of Justice has just announced a proposal for a legislative change aimed at social networks.

  • “He canceled Chinese 5G.

    "

Is it right ?

5G is well underway in the United States.

However, Donald Trump, who is waging a trade war with China, blocked the arrival of the Chinese company Huawei in this market.

In May 2019, the US president banned US companies from using telecommunications equipment made by companies posing a "risk to national security," Reuters said.

The ban has been extended until May 2021.

  • “He arrested 3,700 pedophiles and organ traffickers.

    "

Is it right ?

There are no official statistics on the fight against organ trafficking in the United States.

Regarding child crime, the ICE, a customs and border control agency, said it had arrested 3,957 “child predators” in 2019. Figures for 2018 and 2017 are not available.

The statement does not specify over what period these 3,700 arrests would have taken place.

Other variations of this claim are circulating online.

According to one version, the number of arrests for human trafficking has skyrocketed during Donald Trump's presidency compared to Barack Obama's years as president.

Our American colleagues at FactCheck.org denied this assertion.

  • “He immediately validated Professor Raoult's treatment.

    "

Is it right ?

Donald Trump was, at first, favorable to hydroxychloroquine to prevent the coronavirus.

On March 24, he described the molecule as a “gift from heaven”.

On May 18, the president announced to take the drug as a preventive measure, before stopping, a week later.

US health authorities have been cautious about the drug.

On March 30, the FDA, responsible for regulating drugs, authorized the administration of chloroquine in hospitals, while warning against self-medication.

The CDC had, in early April, mentioned dosages for administering hydroxychloroquine, while stressing that "the optimal dose and duration [of administration] of hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19 are unknown."

On April 7, the CDC removed references to assays.
