The heiress of the world's leading whiskey maker Sigram was sentenced to jail for financially supporting a fanatic group that made various fraudulent acts of sexual slavery to women.

A New York court sentenced Claire Bronfman, 41, the daughter of Sigram founder Edgar Bronfman, to a fine of $500,000 (approximately 580 million won) for credit card fraud, and sentenced to six years in prison, the AFP news agency. Reported.

Bronfman is accused of concealing immigrants who have been illegally staying in the United States to help the fanatical group NXIVM, founded in 1998, and using the deceased's credit card to provide financial assistance to the group.

The prosecution said Bronfman provided tens of millions of dollars to Nexium. "Without Bronfman's support, Ranière's crime would have been impossible."

Keith Ranière, 60, who founded the group, was caught by the prosecution in March last year after joining celebrities and other socially celebrities to join the group, claiming to be a spiritual guide and exploiting the sex of women, including minors.

Ranière has been sentenced to life imprisonment, and the sentence will be held on the 27th.
