Shunichi Mizuoka will be appointed chairman of the Constitutional Democratic Party and Social Democratic Party at 12:04 on October 1st.

The election to decide the new chairman of the parliamentary group formed by the Constitutional Democratic Party and others in the House of Councilors was accepted on the 1st, and Mr. Mizuoka was appointed as the chairman without notification other than Shunichi Mizuoka, a member of the House of Councilors.

The Constitutional Democratic Party, which was formed on the 15th of last month, announced on the 1st that an election to select a new chairman of the House of Councilors sect that is forming a partnership with the Social Democratic Party was announced, and candidates were accepted from 9 am.



As a result, there was no notification of candidacy other than Shunichi Mizuoka, a member of the House of Councilors of the Constitutional Democratic Party, and Mr. Mizuoka was appointed as chairman without a vote.



Mr. Mizuoka's appointment as chairman is expected to be officially approved at the parliamentary group's general assembly on the 2nd.



Mr. Mizuoka is 64 years old after winning three proportional representation elections.



After working as a junior high school teacher, he ran for the first time in the 2004 House of Councilors election from the Democratic Party of Japan, and has served as an assistant to the Prime Minister of the Noda Cabinet and chairman of the House of Councilors.
