COVID-19 vaccine

The Russian Ministry of Health and the Russian Direct Investment Fund are working to familiarize their international partners, including the World Health Organization, with the domestic vaccine against COVID-19 Sputnik V.

Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, announced this.

According to him, the UN secretariat is interested in that its staff in Eastern Europe and Central Asia "can generally count on treatment in Russia."

"Such interest testifies to the high assessment of the level of our health care," the TASS diplomat is quoted as saying.

Nebenzya also recalled the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide Sputnik V for voluntary vaccination of UN employees.

“Now we are discussing with the UN Secretariat the possible parameters of such an action,” emphasized Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN.

On August 11, Russia was the first in the world to register a vaccine against the coronavirus infection COVID-19.

The drug was named after the first artificial Earth satellite - "Sputnik V".

The vaccine is expected to enter civilian circulation on January 1, 2021.

In addition, the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, spoke about the details of post-registration studies of the drug, which are currently taking place with the participation of volunteers.

According to him, neither the doctors nor the participants in the trials themselves know what they are injected - a placebo or a vaccine.

“Nobody knows, only the computer that encrypted everything knows.

A code is assigned to a person, "RIA Novosti quotes him.

He stressed that codifying the participants also excludes the possibility of administering both a placebo and a vaccine.

We add that on the eve of the State Scientific Center of Virology and Biotechnology "Vector", clinical studies of its own vaccine against COVID-19 "EpiVacCorona" were completed.

The Novosibirsk center has already received patents for the drug.

The vaccine registration process is expected to complete by 15 October.
