The investment is worth around SEK 20 million and a number of new jobs will be created in Oxelösund.

Exactly how many is still unclear.

- It is not possible to say a number, but we know that we will have a need to hire new employees for the new process, says Sari Heikkinen, communications manager at SSAB in Oxelösund.

A growing demand

The product itself steel powder is described as in demand and promising for the future.

3D technology, also known as additive manufacturing, is growing.

- This is extremely positive because it creates both jobs and broadens SSAB's product portfolio which means that we as a company can grow even more, says Johnny Sjöström who is partly division manager for SSAB Special Steels and associate professor at Luleå University of Technology where he researched additive manufacturing .

The plan is for production to be up and running during the second quarter of 2021.
