“The Seimas on Thursday, October 1, adopted a statement on the legitimacy of the mandate of the President of Belarus, in which it does not recognize Lukashenka as the legitimate President of Belarus,” TASS quotes a message from the parliament.

The document was a reaction to Lukashenka's inauguration on September 23.

It is noted that “Latvia does not recognize the election results published by the Belarusian authorities and indicates that the mandate based on these results cannot be considered democratically and legitimate”.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov commented on the non-recognition of Lukashenko by a number of European countries.
