"Why the battle flag is so picturesque, the hero's blood stains it red, why the earth is always spring, and the hero's life blooms with flowers..." Although the gunpowder of the War to Resist U.S. Aid Korea has long since dissipated, when the end of the war sounded, it led us back. When I arrived at that song and tearful history, I saw the figures who gave up their lives.

In the Liaoning Provincial Archives, there is a precious historical archive: In 1954, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army Political Department and the Central Organization Department jointly issued the "Chinese People's Volunteer Army Special Merit and Heroes, Model List".

Opening this roster, the names of the heroes came into view, Bao Qingfang, whose name is rarely known.

In 1930, Bao Qingfang was born into a poor peasant family.

He joined the Communist Party of China in March 1949, and was incorporated into the 3rd Battalion, 7th Company, 1 platoon, 1 squad of the 450th regiment of the 50th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in June 1949.

In October 1950, Bao Qingfang went to fight with troops in North Korea.

Bao Qingfang did not leave a photo during his lifetime. In his hometown, Erdaogou Village, Erdaogou Township, Yingkou City, from the memories of his younger brother Bao Qingfu, one can roughly understand his image: tall, white, and very handsome... …Bao Qingfang’s niece, Bao Xiuhua, said in an interview: My uncle worked very hard in military training and performed well. He became a squad leader, joined the Communist Party of China, and later participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

At the beginning of 1951, the 50th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteers, where Bao Qingfang belonged, accepted the task of defending the beachhead position on the south bank of the Han River.

The 7th Company Bao Qingfang was in was ordered to block the enemy at the height of 256.2 in Yangzhili.

On February 22, the U.S. army launched an offensive against our position. Bao Qingfang shot and shouted: "Comrades, the time for revenge is here!" Encouraged by him, the fighting spirit was high and the soldiers repelled the enemy within four days. After several attacks, more than 70 enemy bodies fell under Bao Qingfang's machine gun on February 25 alone.

On February 26, the enemy doubled its strength. Bao Qingfang resolutely said to the soldiers of the class: "If we die, we will have a position."

At noon, the enemy's artillery fired a round of extremely violent bombardment on our position, and all the fortification bunkers were destroyed in an instant.

A bomb fell on Bao Qingfang's side. When he got up again, he saw that only six people including the deputy company commander were left on the battlefield to fight the enemy.

He desperately carried the hot machine gun 5 meters away and continued to fight. He didn't feel severe pain in his left arm until the last bullet was shot, and he didn't know when he was seriously injured.

Seeing that the position was about to fall, Bao Qingfang did not hesitate to jump out of the trenches, burst into the enemy group with a roar, rang the last grenade in his hand, and died with the enemy.

After the war, Bao Qingfang was remembered as a "special hero" and was awarded the honorary title of "second-level hero". He used his life to compose a heroic hymn.

You can find Bao Qingfang’s name on the Wall of Heroes in the Memorial Hall of Anti-U.S. Aid Korea in Dandong City and the Martyrs’ Wall in the Martyrs’ Cemetery of Anti-U.S. Aid Korea in Shenyang City. On the wall with him, there are hundreds of volunteer soldiers who are heroes of the Chinese nation. Children are strong guards of the security of the motherland and world peace, and they deserve the honorable title of "the cutest person".

The Chinese people have never forgotten the martyrs who dyed the Jindalai flowers blooming on the land of North Korea with their blood. Their famous generals will go down in history forever.
