Google to start new news distribution service October 2, 5:05

Google, the US IT giant, has announced that it will launch a new news distribution service in partnership with about 200 news outlets around the world.

By paying more than 100 billion yen for article usage fees over the next three years, it seems that Google will raise huge advertising revenue and aim to eliminate the dissatisfaction of the news media asking for article usage fees.

Google announced on the 1st that it will start a new news distribution service "Google News Showcase".

In this service, the news media will post the articles they want to publish on each page called "panel", and Google will pay $ 1 billion over the next three years and about 100 billion yen in Japanese yen as usage fees for articles and the like.

Already, we have partnered with about 200 media outlets around the world, including Europe and South America, so we will start services in Germany and Brazil, and gradually expand to each country.

As Google holds an overwhelming share of Internet search services and makes huge advertising revenues, news media in each country are increasingly demanding payment of royalties.

Google seems to be aiming to eliminate the dissatisfaction of the media by paying the royalties and to avoid criticism in the United States and other countries that it uses its monopoly position to hinder market competition.
