“The endless stream of harsh statements from Ukrainian politicians, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has become for us a serious reason for objective doubts about the sincerity of their statements of friendship,” the commentary says.

Minsk stressed that they are determined to preserve good-neighborly relations with Ukraine, but Kiev's position is “fraught with tangible damage” to bilateral relations. 

"The latest statements by representatives of the official Kiev have already led to an acute deficit of trust in their Ukrainian colleagues ... Does Kiev understand this?"

Belarus expressed the hope that Ukraine "will be able to free itself from the" stifling embrace "of its Western partners" and will build relations with neighboring states based on its own interests.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko “made his choice” by starting rapprochement with Moscow, which, according to the Ukrainian minister, “means confrontation” between Kiev and Minsk.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, said that if the Belarusian authorities do not find an opportunity to conduct a dialogue with the people, then this government will not exist.

In response, Belarus declared that Ukraine's foreign policy decisions were not independent.
