October 01, 2020The coronavirus outbreak is generating alarming figures again in France.

There are 13,970 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, the health authorities announced in the daily press point.

Yesterday 12,845 people were positive;

in the last 24 hours, 63 people have died due to Covid-19 in France, bringing the death toll to 32,019.

In the past seven days, 3,998 people have been hospitalized, 844 of them in intensive care.

The positivity rate is still increasing: today it reaches 7.6 per cent.

1,234 "clusters", or epidemiological outbreaks, are being studied, 78 of which were discovered in 24 hours;

66 departments are in a highly vulnerable situation.

Health Minister Olivier Veran held, as every Thursday now, his weekly update dedicated to the evolution of the coronavirus in France.

While not announcing new restrictions, he nevertheless hinted at the probable passage Monday of Paris and its inner suburbs to the state of "maximum alert zone".

Exceeding this threshold, which the minister wishes to confirm with the data for the next few days, would mean "no more family celebrations, no more parties, total closure of the bars", he warned.

As for restaurants, strict measures could be put in place to keep them open.
