An agreement to negotiate between Lebanon and Israel on the maritime and land borders

The Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri announced today, Thursday, that a framework had been agreed upon for negotiations with Israel over the sea and land borders, explaining that the Lebanese army would lead the talks.

He added that the meetings will be held at a United Nations base near the borders in southern Lebanon under the auspices of the United Nations, explaining that the representatives of the United States and the United Nations coordinator for Lebanon will participate in the meetings, and the framework agreement stipulated that America make efforts to create a positive atmosphere for the success of the talks as soon as possible.

He pointed out that Lebanon and Israel called on America to be a mediator in demarcating the borders, pointing out that once an agreement is reached, it will be signed by Lebanon, Israel and the United Nations force UNIFIL.

He added that the agreement was reached before the US sanctions were imposed on Lebanese ministers, including an assistant to him.
