In recent weeks, the mood in the western parts of Borlänge in particular has increased.
According to the police, police have been attacked, people have been shot in western Borlänge and people have been stabbed.
The municipality has now invited the police to develop an action plan to curb the ongoing crime and to prevent it.
- We have raised it at the absolute highest political level within the municipality, I will invite the police area chief to develop an action program, says Jan Bohman (S), chairman of the municipal board in Borlänge who believes that the escalated crime after the summer may have to do with the ongoing pandemic:
- The social tension we have received due to the pandemic, with increased unemployment and all that it entails, that people can not socialize in the normal way has made the tensions increase, but now we have to break what has happened in recent weeks, he says.
The police are changing their work in the area
The police area manager in Borlänge, Thomas Hellgren, says that the police will work in a different way and redirect resources to the most vulnerable areas in the western parts of Borlänge in the future.
- We have for a long time worked with a contact-creating business that has been done very well, but now we are adjusting and intervening in a different way and will implement measures within the area.
Hopefully we see effects on it, we have already done so with a number of prosecuted individuals, says police area chief Thomas Hellgren and continues:
