It was on Sunday that the woman was found dead in the home.

The woman had injuries to her body that made it impossible to rule out crime and they are still waiting for a forensic autopsy report.

At around 3 pm on Wednesday, an arrest hearing was initiated at Luleå District Court, where the chamber prosecutor Ulrika Schönbeck requested that the man be remanded in custody for probable cause, or reasonably, on suspicion of murder.

Detained on the weaker suspicion level

The district court agreed with the prosecutor that the man could complicate the investigation if he was released, but he was detained on the weaker degree of suspicion: reasonably suspected.

- Now we have a week to strengthen the degree of suspicion for probable cause, says Ulrika Schönbeck, chamber prosecutor and also preliminary investigation leader.

When is the autopsy report expected to be completed?

- Hopefully it will come tomorrow, says Schönbeck to SVT.
