Philippe Rickwaert will not settle at the Elysée: the political series of Canal + "Baron Noir" will not have a fourth season, announced Wednesday to Télérama his co-creator Eric Benzekri and the director of the fiction of Canal +, Fabrice from La Patellière.

Launched in 2016 on the encrypted channel, the drama carried by Kad Merad stops at the decision of its co-creator: "I discussed it a lot with Canal + and the producer, Thomas Bourguignon, but it's my decision, and I assume it, "Benzekri told the weekly.

This former PS activist, former collaborator of Julien Dray and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, notably invoked "fatigue", the "need to do something else", but also the end of a cycle with the tragic outcome of the season 3.

"For him, resigning was to start a new cycle of writing and devote another six years of his life ...", underlined Fabrice de la Patellière.

"And for us, it was not possible to continue without him," he added.

Hailed for its realism, "Black Baron" followed for 24 episodes the rise of the Socialist deputy mayor of Dunkirk, Philippe Rickwaert (played by Kad Merad), who successively led to the Elysee Francis Laugier (Niels Arestrup) then his young advisor Amélie Dorendeu (Anna Mouglalis) before finding himself on the steps of power.
