The new baccalaureate formula for Terminale students will start in March with the specialties tests.

As for the traditional session of written tests, it is scheduled from June 17 with the philosophy test.

From Monday June 21 to Friday July 2 will take place the tests of the grand oral.

The Ministry of National Education published on Wednesday the calendar of the new baccalaureate, which the final year students will start in March with the specialty tests, followed in June by the written tests and the grand oral.

The objective of this reform, decided by Jean-Michel Blanquer, is not to confine students to scientific, economic or literary fields but to allow them to associate several disciplinary fields.

Specialty exams in March

According to figures from the ministry, mathematics, despite a "high dropout rate", is the most chosen specialty education with 41% of students who have decided to take these courses.

Next come physics and chemistry (34%) and economics (33%).

The specialty tests will take place between March 15 and 17.

In a statement, the Snes-FSU, the first secondary school union, wondered "how to organize all the specialty tests in two days with regard to the number of possible combinations in a high school".

"In large high schools, we can have up to 50 combinations and in the others, it is on average between 20 and 30", explains Sophie Vénétitay of Snes-FSU, assuring that "it is totally unplayable to pass them over such a short period ".

"And this implies that there must be two subjects per specialty, that the students therefore do not take all the same subjects and that therefore calls into question the national character of the examination," she says.

The traditional written exam session will start on June 17

The Snes-FSU, as well as other trade union organizations, asked the ministry on Wednesday for an "emergency meeting" on the timetable for the new bac, which they regret "having discovered in the press".

The traditional written exam session will start on June 17 with the philosophy exams.

From Monday June 21 to Friday July 2 will take place the tests of the grand oral.

The baccalaureate results will be published on July 6 and the remedial session will be held from July 7 to 9.

In addition, the ministry recalls that the schedule of common evaluations, made up of common duties carried out within the framework of school hours during the final year, "will be decided by the head of each establishment after consultation of the educational council and deliberation from the administration board".

The Parcoursup calendar will take place "in coherence" with that of the new bac, in order "to allow students to be able to assert for their access to higher education the marks obtained within the framework of a simplified and renovated baccalaureate", explains the Ministry.

The Parcoursup platform will open on January 20 for the registration and wish-making phase.

Between May 27 and July 16, 2021 will then come the main phase of admission during which high school students receive training responses and make their choices.

Finally, the complementary phase will open from June 16, 2021 until September 16, 2021.
