Almost six years ago, Carin Götblad became the first regional police chief in the new organization where Uppsala forms region Mitt together with Västmanland and Gävleborg.

The police reorganization became turbulent, the police results collapsed and staff stopped.

When Carin Götblad stepped into the police house Blanka in Uppsala, she brought with her expectations of an intensive work with her heart issues, crimes against women and children.

That focus has also emerged, as employees testify.

But much of it has, at least outwardly, been about dealing with serious crime.

Special efforts against gangs

The police in the Central region have had the Special Gang operation, Operation Lynx and most recently Operation Rimfrost.

Nevertheless, shootings and bombings have continued.

On several occasions, the police have been the target of attacks, including when a hand grenade was thrown at the police station in Uppsala and a bombing at a police chief's residence.

There has also been a storm around Carin Götblad.

Among other things in the tangle where a police chief in Västmanland threatened another police chief.

SVT Nyheter Uppsala has reported on internal criticism.

She has also been investigated for inaccuracies in her accounts.

Since 2015, the police region Mitt has also handled, among other things, the major forest fires, the refugee crisis, gigantic investigations such as the “casino target”, serial rapists who operated via the internet - and the corona pandemic.
