Since the first hours of the announcement by Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Bahrain, in addition to Egypt, the initiation of a plan to blockade Qatar and boycott it politically and diplomatically with the aim of isolating and weakening it. .

The pre-prepared blockade - which began a few days after the hacking of the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) website and the publication of fabricated statements attributed to the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani - and the massive media and incitement campaigns that accompanied it - Kuwait only increased determination and steadfastness on the consensual and conciliatory approach. Which it has consistently followed in addressing all the Gulf-Gulf, Arab-Arab disputes, even between the people of the same nation.

The blockading countries tried repeatedly to win Kuwait over to their side in order to increase pressure on Doha, but Kuwait remained steadfast in its position on the necessity of gathering and reuniting the brothers in order to preserve the entire entity of the Gulf Cooperation Council from the danger of disintegration that threatens it.

Perhaps the best proof of this is what was expressed by the late Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, in a speech he gave last October, when he said that it is no longer acceptable or possible for the continuation of the disagreement between the brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, because it weakened the capabilities of the Council and threatened its achievements.

During his inauguration of the fourth session of the 15th legislative chapter of the National Assembly (Parliament), Sheikh Sabah stressed the need to rise above differences and place the interests of the Arab nation above all else.

Frequent positions

Many Kuwaiti officials - led by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his deputy, the Speaker of the National Assembly and other deputies and ministers - followed in the footsteps of the late Emir of the country in terms of stressing the necessity of abandoning differences between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and in terms of dependence and permanent adherence to Kuwaiti mediation efforts in order to defuse The Gulf Crisis.

They emphasized on dozens of local and foreign occasions and statements from the first moment of the outbreak of the crisis until now that Kuwait will continue its mediation to resolve the dispute, and it will not lose hope despite the frustration it feels after more than 3 years have passed since the start of the blockade on Qatar.

Messages and meetings between the Kuwaiti and Qatari sides did not stop. Last January, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani conveyed an oral message from the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim, to the late Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah.

The Qatari minister said in his tweet on Twitter that the message he conveyed to Kuwait relates to the close fraternal relations between the two countries and issues of common interest.

In September last year, the late Emir of Kuwait received a written message from the Emir of Qatar, which was conveyed by Sheikh Tamim's personal representative.

The Emir of the State of Qatar visited Kuwait in May of 2019 and met Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, then visited him in September of the same year at his residence in New York City, USA.

Over the past three years, official exchanges between Qatari and Kuwaiti delegations have continued on various political, economic, social and even sports levels.

Prevent military intervention

Many are the dangerous twists and turns that the Gulf crisis went through, but the most dangerous from the viewpoint of observers was what the late Emir of Kuwait revealed about the success of his country's mediation in stopping a military intervention against Qatar after the outbreak of the Gulf crisis, explaining that the military option is currently excluded.

During a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, in September of 2017, Sheikh Sabah said, "Praise be to God, I mean, the important thing is that we stopped it being a military thing."

Speaking about the crisis, the late Emir of Kuwait at the time said that he received a Qatari answer confirming readiness to discuss the 13 demands put forward by the four blockading countries, adding that "Articles 13 are not acceptable to all, and the solution is to sit down with each other and listen to points that harm the region and the interests of our other friends."

He added, "I am sure that a large part of it will be resolved, and the other part may be that we do not accept, but we hope very much for our friends in the United States to help them get things back to normal."

Immediately, and only a few hours after the late Emir of Kuwait revealed the intention of the blockading countries to intervene militarily in Qatar and announced that he had rejected some of the conditions imposed by the quartet alliance on Doha, the four countries confirmed in a joint statement that "the military option is not and will not be on the table in any way."

Reflecting the extent of its annoyance with the position of Kuwait and the statements of its Emir, the four countries stressed in the same statement that the dialogue regarding the implementation of their 13 demands should not be preceded by any conditions.

These countries tried, as every time, to throw the ball in the stadium of Qatar, in a desperate attempt to suggest that Doha is the one trying to disrupt the Gulf dialogue.
