The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation affirmed the right of employment to assist in obtaining the legally prescribed vacations and weekly breaks, but it stated that there is no legal text defining the place of spending the vacation or rest, whether inside or outside the home, calling on the parties to the work relationship to seek to reach an agreement that satisfies both parties.

In detail, the heads of families complained about what they described as the "exploitation" of the auxiliary workers for decisions to cancel the period of national sterilization, and partially reduce the precautionary measures that the state adopted to confront the "Corona" pandemic in pressuring them to obtain their weekly rest to spend with their friends outside the home, stressing that "these demands It caused major disagreements with the maids, to the extent that it prompted some of them to threaten to leave their work and file complaints against the sponsor, claiming not to grant them weekly rest.

And sponsors stated that they refuse to spend their weekly rest outside the home, due to their fears of transmitting Corona virus infection to their family members, especially since most of the assisting workers do not show sufficient interest in the precautionary measures, represented in wearing the muzzle correctly, and ensuring physical separation, calling on the Ministry Human resources and Emiratisation to support the sponsors, by directing the assisting workers to be satisfied with spending the weekly vacations and rest in homes, during this period, or going out with family members, in order to ensure the safety of everyone.

One of them said: “It is illogical to allow the maid to meet her friends in gatherings that I do not know how safe she is, especially since she does not adhere to the rules of prevention except by directing her to wear the mask and wash hands constantly.”

He asked, "How can I be lenient on this matter, at a time when family members, adults and children, are keen to adhere to preventive measures?"

He considered his last approval for the maid to leave during her vacation as a risk, which could take the lives of his family members, indicating his and his wife's keenness to discuss the maid, and try to convince her of the danger of her meeting with her friends at the present time, but they find ready and irresponsible responses from the maid, such as: «You go out daily To go to work, and the children go to school, why am I not allowed to go out too? ”This leads them to further explain, and that they are committed to preventive measures, and they carry out periodic checks and swabs to ensure their safety and that of family members.

She said that the main reason for the escalation of the dispute is due to agreements on staying up late, or going out, that the assisting workers enter into with each other.

Another housewife expressed her annoyance at the maid's repeated requests to go out with her friends, to buy personal items and gifts, confirming that she offered to devote a whole day to go with her to any place she wanted and buy anything, but she was surprised by the maid refusing the offer, and confirming that she wanted to go out with her friends.

For its part, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation assured “Emirates Today” that the assistant worker has the right to weekly rest, in accordance with what was stipulated in the federal law regarding assistive service workers and its executive regulations, by agreement between the two parties to the work relationship since the beginning of the contract, with fixed dates as possible.

She also stressed the importance of the commitment of those wishing to employ assistive workers from families and employers to determine everything related to the weekly rest and its timing, and the mechanism for using it when contracting with the assistant worker, in order to avoid disputes that may arise between the two parties during the contract period.

She explained that no legal text has been received recognizing the worker's entitlement to enjoy his weekly rest outside or inside the home, unless the two parties agree on that when contracting, stressing that the employer has the right to return the assistant worker to the service center (Tadbeer), and terminate the contract with him in the event that Failure of the worker to abide by the conditions agreed upon during the contract.

The assistant worker, in this case, is considered a breach of his legal obligations.

Studies emphasized that there are people carrying the virus, and they do not show symptoms of the disease, especially children and young people, who have high immunity, but this does not prevent them from causing infection to the rest of the groups vulnerable to complications of the disease, such as: the elderly and people with chronic diseases, who A house is hardly without their presence.
