The star striker of Paris SG Neymar, injured in a calf Sunday in Reims (2-0), suffers from a simple contracture and passed "reassuring" exams, announced Tuesday the Parisian club.
"Victim of a contracture in the right calf during the match Sunday, he passed examinations which are reassuring. He will be reassessed in the next 48 hours", wrote the PSG in a press release published on its website.
The Brazilian seemed embarrassed in the calf at the end of the match won (2-0) in Reims Sunday in Ligue 1 but his coach Thomas Tuchel, soothing, had dismissed the idea of a "serious" glitch at a press conference.
This benign muscle injury is reassuring for the Parisian club, which has struggled to align all its stars together at the start of the season due to injuries, cases of Covid-19 detected within the workforce and suspensions linked to the stormy PSG -OM of September 13.
Already suspended two matches after his red card received against Marseille, Neymar will still be the center of attention on Wednesday, since he appears again in the disciplinary committee (5:00 p.m.).
The body must judge the accusations of racist or homophobic insults targeting the Brazilian superstar and the Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez, who risk big.
Regarding the rest of the Parisian workforce, Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye, absent in Reims for muscle discomfort, must resume training "within 48 hours", said PSG, which receives Angers on Friday for the 6th day of the League 1. The German defender Thilo Kherer, who suffers from the adductors, should be back on the field in early October, during the international break.
As for the Spanish defender Juan Bernat, victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee against Metz (1-0) in mid-September, "he was operated on this morning successfully at the Pitié-Salpétrière hospital", said the Parisian club, without specifying a period of unavailability.
This kind of serious injury usually involves several months of recovery for a footballer.
