The company is investing approximately SEK 5.5 billion to finance the investment in Sweden, which VLT was the first to report.

At Finnslätten in Västerås, the research facility Northvolt Lab's premises will be made twice as large.

- In Västerås, it is an investment of well over a billion, says the battery company's communications manager Jesper Wigardt to SVT.

The investments are also made in battery production in Skellefteå, where more batteries will be produced and a new factory for recycling will also be built.

"Significantly more jobs"

Right now, between 300 and 400 people work at the facility on Finnslätten.

Exactly how many new jobs the expansion will mean is not clear.

- I do not have an exact figure but it will increase significantly, says Jesper Wigardt.
