More than 250 Venezuelan opponents, leaders and former Latin American leaders and Spanish politicians of the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos yesterday sent a very harsh letter to the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, to the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, and EU Foreign Ministers denouncing that Josep Borrell is "undermining the international consensus" on Venezuela by "begging 'minimum conditions' [to hold elections] from a proven criminal regime."

The letter follows in the wake of the complaint from the European People's Party and European liberals that EL MUNDO advanced yesterday.

The letter warns of the "dire consequences" that the decision of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy to send a European mission to Caracas to negotiate with the Government of Nicolás Maduro the delay of the elections scheduled for December 6 may have .

As they denounce, the elections called by Maduro are "illegitimate," "an electoral fraud."

And they consider that conditions for its celebration cannot be negotiated with the Chavista government.

Borrell has adopted this initiative, they denounce, "in conjunction with the Government of Spain", whose members, they say, "are ideological allies of the criminal regime" of Venezuela.

The harsh letter assures that the Government of Spain "has ceased to be the legitimate and respected spokesperson [spokesperson] for the interests of Latin America before the European community, as it has historically been."

Among the more than 250 signatories there are numerous Venezuelan opponents, former ministers and former leaders of many countries on the continent.

Several former Latin American presidents also sign such as Vicente Fox (Mexico), Andrés Pastrana or Álvaro Uribe (Colombia), as well as the Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa

The presidents of the PP, Pablo Casado, or of Vox, Santiago Abascal, sign the letter.

Cs has lowered its representation to the deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, who is also a member of the national Executive.

Numerous deputies of the PP and Vox have also stamped their signature.
