"It is always better to talk than to rattle weapons and intimidate each other," the Lithuanian leader of TASS was quoted as saying.

Nauseda added that dialogue is always preferable.

“However, we must clearly realize that we are choosing a path on which there can be a lot of disappointments,” the president said.

He stressed that he supports the desire for mutual understanding with Russia for a more sustainable peace in Europe.

In February, Nauseda said the deployment of NATO troops, including the US military, in Lithuania and the Baltic region is a "strong deterrent for Russia."
