To cope with an increase in delinquency in Bordeaux, around thirty CRS from the Paris region were dispatched to reinforce Bordeaux for 15 days.

A measure deemed insufficient for the mayor of the city, Pierre Hurmic.

REPORTAGE

"Our main mission in Bordeaux is to provide reinforcement to offset an increase in crime and delinquency, particularly in the city center."

Like thirty other CRS, Lieutenant Céline arrived this Tuesday evening in Bordeaux, from the Paris region, to lend a hand to local law enforcement at the request of the town hall and the Prefecture.

During the next few weeks, these troops will therefore survey the city to better secure it.

Secure and enforce the wearing of a mask

A mission of "security" which is also coupled with "controls and teaching", in particular with regard to the wearing of the mask.

"We have already toured the sector and sent a vehicle to remind us of the obligation," confirms a CRS at the microphone of Europe 1.

Increase in delinquency in Bordeaux: "The national police system is no longer up to the task"

Insufficient reinforcements for Pierre Hurmic

But this remains insufficient for the mayor of Bordeaux, who expects a long-term effort from the State.

"We got this CRS company until November and after that, we will have to share it with Nantes," Pierre Hurmic explained during the city council.

"This remains an insufficient solution in view of the delinquency observed. The municipality will continue to ask for more police officers and in particular more judicial police officers for the people of Bordeaux."

To cope with this increase in delinquency, the town hall of Bordeaux plans to increase the staff of its municipal police, and has announced the upcoming creation of a canine brigade.
