Government-distributed cloth mask "We are refraining from disclosing the unit price" Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura September 29, 15:45

Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura said that as a measure against the new coronavirus, the government has filed a lawsuit over cloth masks distributed to all households nationwide, asking a university professor in Kobe to disclose the amount ordered from the supplier. He indicated that he would not disclose it as a contract-based response.

Regarding the government's distribution of two cloth masks to all households as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, a university professor in Kobe City does not disclose how much one mask was ordered for each supplier. He filed a lawsuit asking him to clarify it as unjustified.

Regarding this, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, "There was a history of having companies collect it by a considerable amount of effort during non-normal times. How does it compare to the unit price of masks in normal times? I think there is, but it's a story that each company is doing with effort. "

He added, "Information disclosure has an impact on corporate activities, and the contract is not disclosed in the first place, so we refrain from disclosing each unit price."

As a measure against the new coronavirus, the government distributed two cloth masks to all households nationwide from April to June, for a total of 120 million, and the necessary costs were 18.4 billion yen for procurement and 18.4 billion yen for delivery costs. It was announced in June that the total amount of 7.6 billion yen is expected to be 26 billion yen.
