deaths and injuries among the civilian population

of Nagorno Karabakh.

This was stated on Facebook by the president of the disputed region, Araik Arutiunian, speaking of '' dozens '' of soldiers killed.



"There are also dozens of injured among the civilian population and also dead ones," he added. 

At least 16 Nagorno Karabakh soldiers who lost their lives

, according to the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Ministry.       



Arutiunian stated that Azerbaijan used '' Turkish F-16 fighters '' for its offensive, explaining that these military aircraft arrived in the country '' for a month '' with '' the pretext of participating in maneuvers '' military.



The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has issued an 

ultimatum to Armenia

, announcing a retaliation that continues to attack civilian settlements.

"The defense ministry gives the last warning to Armenia. If necessary, adequate retaliation measures will be taken", reads a statement.



There is therefore very high tension in the Caucasus between Armenia and Azerbaijan: fighting is being fought in the autonomous region of Nagorno Karabakh, where the Azerbaijani army first bombed the positions of the Armenian independence forces, which had attacked during the night, and then launched a counter-offensive.



Armenia yesterday declared martial law and general mobilization, Azerbaijan proclaimed martial law and a curfew in Baku and other cities.



The UN has asked to stop the fighting.

On the same line, the EU, Italy and Russia, which are also asking for negotiations to start.
