On September 28, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the opening ceremony of the Blue Hall Forum on "International Order and Global Governance in the Post-epidemic Era" and delivered a keynote speech.

Wang Yi said that the world is at another important historical moment since the end of World War II.

The new crown epidemic is still raging around the world, unilateral bullying is widespread, and protectionism is surging against the current.

Where is the world heading in the post-epidemic era?

Countries must not take it lightly, and more importantly, prevent making wrong choices.

Wang Yi said that at the 75th UN General Assembly, the international community reached valuable consensus on some important principles and directions.

All parties generally believe that the United Nations is still the most complete mechanism platform in the current international system, international law is still the most authoritative framework for relations between nations, and the principles and purposes of the UN Charter are still the most important guidelines for the peace and development of human society.

Multilateralism is the foundation and pillar of the existing international order, and solidarity and cooperation are the only way to overcome the epidemic and move towards recovery.

Regarding individual countries' use of the United Nations as a performance venue for serving their own politics and an arena for provoking conflict and confrontation, all countries have resisted in different ways.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the current UN General Assembly. He clearly and loudly reiterated that China will firmly support the United Nations, resolutely defend multilateralism, continue to work with other countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind, and announced China’s response to globalization. A series of major propositions and specific measures to challenge and promote the common development of the world reflect the responsibility and vision of leaders of major powers, conform to the common interests of all countries in the world, and conform to the development trend of the times and the direction of historical progress.

Wang Yi said that in the face of the changing world, China's position is very clear.

First, peaceful development is the theme of the times that all countries should adhere to together.

As the first country to sign the UN Charter, China has benefited from the peaceful development of the world, and at the same time has always made unremitting efforts to maintain the peaceful development of the world.

China believes that the challenges of peace need to be resolved through a new security concept of common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable; the deficit facing development needs to be bridged through the new development concept of innovation, coordination, greenness, openness, and sharing.

In maintaining peace and development, major powers shoulder special responsibilities. They cannot seek their own security at the expense of the security of other countries, and cannot deprive other countries of their development rights through bullying.

China will continue to unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development. At the same time, it will work with other countries to resist the so-called false theory of national priority and jointly oppose the evil way of zero-sum game.

Second, fairness and justice are universal values that all countries should defend together.

Any attempt to regain hegemony and drag the world back to the jungle state is doomed to impossible success.

All countries, big or small, strong or weak, are equal members of the international community; people of all countries have the right to live a good life no matter where they are.

Those who think they can ignore and undermine international rules with a big fist will eventually be abandoned by the times.

China is a staunch guardian of international fairness and justice. It never interferes in the internal affairs of other countries, and will never allow other countries to interfere in China's internal affairs.

China insists on opposing bullying and bullying, and advocates dialogue instead of conflict, negotiation instead of coercion, and win-win instead of zero-sum.

Third, unity and progress are the human righteous path that all countries should uphold together.

The new crown virus is the public enemy of mankind, and the political virus spreading hatred and confrontation is also a threat to the world.

China has always been at the forefront of the fight against all viruses and on the forefront of international anti-epidemic cooperation. It will continue to use its own experience and capabilities to help all countries in need with a sincere attitude.

Fourth, open cooperation is the correct direction that all countries should grasp together.

The development history of China and the world has shown that closure leads to backwardness and opening up brings progress.

Building up protectionist barriers is like painting a prison, and artificial decoupling can only lead to self-isolation.

The world’s problems are not unsolvable, but should be found through more advanced governance, higher levels of openness, and deeper cooperation.

We should unswervingly build an open world economy, unswervingly safeguard the multilateral trading system based on the WTO, and unswervingly ensure the stability and smooth flow of the global industrial chain and supply chain.

China has always pursued a mutually beneficial and win-win opening strategy, and will continue to comprehensively improve the level of opening up, share more Chinese dividends with the world, and drive the world's common recovery through its own development.

Wang Yi emphasized that no matter how the international situation changes and the road ahead is tortuous, China will unswervingly assume its due responsibilities, show its responsibility as a major power, add stability and certainty to a turbulent world, and inject firm confidence and continuity into multilateralism. power.

China will vigorously carry out international anti-epidemic cooperation, and work with countries around the world to control and thoroughly defeat the epidemic as soon as possible; actively participate in global governance reforms, promote the international order and international system to be more fair, balanced and reasonable; accelerate the domestic and international dual cycle, and adopt a new development pattern Help the world economy recover and grow as soon as possible; continue to promote high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road” and achieve common development and prosperity with partners; continue to deepen South-South cooperation and vigorously promote the global sustainable development process; earnestly fulfill the promise of energy conservation and emission reduction, let our The planet has become cleaner and more beautiful; continue to constructively intervene in the political settlement of hot issues, and maintain the overall peace and tranquility of the world.

Wang Yi said that no huge disaster was not compensated by historical progress.

The destiny of mankind in the post-epidemic era is in the hands of people of all countries. As long as we make the right choice, global governance will be improved and upgraded after changes, and the international order will surely move forward in the tide of the times.

The forum was jointly organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association and Nizami Gangawi International Center.
