Last Monday,
Anthony Jefferson
was in the New York neighborhood of the Bronx with his three children.
They were shopping, looking for a surprise gift for the birthday of the children's mother when something happened that would change their lives.
They were thinking of buying a car, but their idea was cut short when three assailants shot into the dealership.
Jefferson, 39, instinctively pounced on his sons, ages 6, 5 and two, as a protective shield.
And he saved them but could not avoid being injured: he was shot in the foot and, although he has already been discharged, he has difficulty walking.
His two jobs, as a painter and in construction, are physical, and his limp has seemed incompatible for his employers with the performance of his profession, so, according to the
TMZ
portal
, he has lost both jobs.
The children have not overcome the trauma of the shooting and leave home terrified: "Why did they shoot Dad?" They wonder.
A close family friend,
Serena Wingate
, has even opened a
crowdfunding
to help "this heroic dad with his medical bills and the children's therapy."
And it seems that the story has touched Internet users because the collection already reaches 300,000 dollars
