China News Service, Kunshan, September 28 (Reporter Zhong Sheng) On the evening of the 28th, the 2020 Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival held a lighting ceremony in Kunshan, Jiangsu.

Compatriots on both sides of the strait living in Kunshan, under the same night sky, enjoyed a lantern to celebrate reunion.

As one of the regions with the highest concentration of Taiwanese businessmen on the mainland, Kunshan has registered more than 5,300 Taiwanese-funded projects, with a total investment of 63 billion US dollars and a registered capital of more than 32 billion US dollars.

One hundred thousand Taiwanese compatriots live and work in Kunshan.

The Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival on both sides of the Taiwan Strait (Kunshan) is a special exchange project between Kunshan and Taiwan.

"No matter how much interference and obstacles are encountered, the exchanges and cooperation of compatriots on both sides of the strait cannot be stopped, unbroken, and must not be less." said Huang Wentao, director of the Exchange Bureau of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. No difficulty will prevent compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait from getting closer and closer to each other.

The mainland will support and encourage more Taiwan compatriots and cultural figures to participate in the process of Chinese cultural heritage, development and innovation, and create favorable conditions for Taiwan compatriots to share the development opportunities of mainland cultural undertakings and cultural industries.

This year's Lantern Festival followed the theme of "flowers blooming together, lights reflecting on both sides of the strait", with traditional Jiangnan culture and cross-strait sentiment as the cultural foundation.

The main light "Affection for One Family on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait" is inspired by double lotus and bridge of the same origin, which symbolizes the same root and the same origin on both sides of the strait.

The light groups such as "Time Tunnel" and "Together in the Same Boat to Fight the Epidemic" are also ingenious, showing the inextricable connection between the two sides of the strait.

Wu Xinming, secretary of the Kunshan Municipal Party Committee, said that Kunshan has always worked side by side with Taiwanese businessmen and entrepreneurs, and every cornerstone of the "Kunshan Road" is engraved with the footprints of Taiwanese businessmen and Taiwanese.

Facing the new crown pneumonia epidemic this year, Kunshan has made every effort to help Taiwan-funded enterprises resume work and production.

As of now, Kunshan has invested 1.8 billion US dollars in new investment this year, a year-on-year increase of 281%, showing strong resilience and vitality.

Hong Xiuzhu, the former chairman of the Kuomintang, sent a congratulatory letter for the lantern festival.

She wrote in the congratulatory letter: The theme of the lantern festival "flowers blooming together, lights reflecting on both sides of the strait" is even more precious and important in the current cross-strait atmosphere.

The compatriots on both sides of the strait are a family. The Autumn Festival is a holiday for family reunion. Across a strait, Xiuzhu believes that the blood of his compatriots is thicker than water. The story of Qianli Chanjuan will be sung through the ages and will never stop.
