Christian Mattsson himself has participated in meetings regarding the decision that Preem has now chosen to withdraw its application for expansion of its refinery in Lysekil.

- The decision has emerged in recent times.

We have not been able to justify this commercially and therefore there have not been so many other alternatives, he says.

Subdued mood

Despite the fact that the announcement was expected, he believes that the atmosphere in the workplace is currently subdued.

Christian Mattsson believes that the refinery in Lysekil alone could have meant up to 300 new jobs.

- This gigantic project that we have now chosen to stay would have meant that we have brought in much more manpower.

Now it will not be so.

Among the employees, there are probably many who have a lump in their stomach, and all the media courtship has not been completely fun for everyone to handle, says Christian Matsson.

"Applies to re-prioritize"

At the same time, he believes that most of the employees understand the management's decisions.

- There is nothing we are hanging on to and as it looks right now, all our employees here in Lysekil will be able to continue.

Swedish industry is currently undergoing a steel bath and then it is important to re-prioritize and invest in renewable products that the government fully supports, says Christian Mattson, IF Metall's club chairman at Preemraff.
