It has been about three months since SVT visited the central intensive care unit at the University Hospital.

Then: The department gathered strength and had to gather extra resources to be able to care for all covid patients.

Now: Not a single patient is in intensive care due to the virus.

- We expect that there will be more covid patients in the intensive care unit.

We believe that there will be a smaller second wave in Uppsala at the same time as we are more prepared now that we know more about the virus, says Magnus von Seth, chief physician.

How?

- For example, current routines and treatment.

We know more about what works and what does not, says Magnus von Seth.

The staff gets the long-awaited holiday week

This summer, first care staff were promised the usual four-week holiday.

Then the trend reversed and more people became seriously ill - then a holiday week was canceled.

A week that nurse Håkan Marsh plans to take out soon.

- It is clear that you would have preferred to have had four weeks in a row this summer to be able to recover properly after the spring that has been.

But it will be nice to be free now too, he says.

Are you worried that a possible second wave could jeopardize your leave?

Nurse Håkan Marsh in conversation with colleague.

- It is clear that the thought struck one that there will be a second wave and that you will not get that holiday week.

But right now we have no huge increase in Uppsala and therefore I live on hope, says Håkan Marsh.
