The former Soviet Union states Azerbaijan and Armenia had another armed conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, a region of long conflict.

To date, 67 people have died and hundreds have been injured, including civilians.

Nagorno Karabakh is in Azerbaijan under international law, but 80% of its inhabitants are Armenians, and since the 1994 ceasefire, Armenia has been effectively dominated.

For this reason, for nearly 30 years since 1988, the two countries have been fighting for this place.

The war that lasted for two years since 1992 killed 30,000 people and resulted in 1 million refugees.

This engagement resulted in the largest victims since the 2016 War, where 200 people died.

[President Aliyev/Azerbaijan: The international community must stop dangerous and insecure attempts.]

Russia immediately demanded a ceasefire, and the international community, including the European Union, urged to stop using force.

However, the two countries that are '30 years of hardship' are proclaiming martial law and sticking to the stance that they will not withdraw, so it seems that the possibility of an all-out war cannot be ruled out.
