The idea is that the handbook should be a support for, for example, leisure leaders and sports coaches in talking to young people about genital mutilation.

- We want to make it easier to talk about difficult issues.

Female genital mutilation of girls and women is a topic surrounded by taboos and vulnerability, which can make it difficult for people in leadership roles to approach the issue.

It is important to increase knowledge in this area, says Arbresha Rexhepi, investigator at the Gender Equality Authority and responsible for the information initiative, in a statement.

The Gender Equality Authority will also send the handbook to all county administrative boards in the country so that they can distribute the material.
