Corona deaths exceed a million around the world

The new Corona virus, since it appeared in China in December, has claimed the lives of more than a million people, and it is grim evidence of the massive spread of the disease that has devastated the global economy, stoked diplomatic tensions and turned life upside down from the slums of India to New York City.

The outlook appears bleak, with the number of infections rising again in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, which reinforces fears of the possibility of a second wave, while health restrictions imposed by governments, such as isolation measures, closing bars and restaurants or banning gatherings, in many countries are met with increasing dissatisfaction with the population.

As of 11:00 GMT Monday, the disease had killed 1,002,036 people out of 33,162,930 injuries, according to a count prepared by Agence France-Presse, according to official sources.

The United States is still the most affected by the number of deaths, with more than 200,000 deaths, followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain.

India, where between 80,000 and 90,000 new infections are recorded daily, crossed the 6 million mark on Monday.
