[Explanation] On the morning of September 27th, Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College held a meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the school on the Changping campus.

  [Commentary] Tan Tianxing, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech.

He congratulated the 70th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College, expressed condolences to the faculty and staff of the school, and affirmed the achievements of the college in the past 70 years.

He pointed out that over the past 70 years, more than 200,000 Chinese youth students, Chinese teachers and foreign government officials from more than 140 countries and regions around the world have come to Beijing Chinese Language Institute for advanced studies. Many alumni have become leaders in various fields at home and abroad. He has made contributions to the construction and development of the country he lives in, and has played a unique role in promoting Chinese culture to the world and promoting the communication between Chinese and foreign people.

  [Commentary] He hopes that Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College will continue to strengthen cultural confidence, keep up with the new situation of overseas Chinese education in the new era, keep in mind the purpose of running the school, highlight the characteristics of running the school, improve the quality of running the school, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

  [Explanation] Liu Xiangling, Party Secretary and Vice Dean of Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College, introduced the college’s 70 years of struggle and development footprints, and said that he would take the 70th anniversary as an opportunity to uphold the school’s mission of "developing overseas Chinese education and promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries". Keeping in mind Mr. Liao Chengzhi's entrustment of "studying hard and rejuvenating China", we adhere to the school-running philosophy of "Chong Moral", explore the characteristic school-running model of "Overseas Chinese" schools that combine classroom teaching and social practice, and spread the excellent traditional Chinese culture to all corners of the world.

  [Explanation] Liu Yahuang, vice chairman of the second board of directors of Beijing Chinese Language Institute and chairman of Macau Wanguo Holdings Group, expressed congratulations to Beijing Chinese Language Institute on behalf of the board of directors.

Teacher representative Yu Xiaoyu, Beijing alumni returning overseas Chinese Huang Xiufen, and student representative Indonesian Chinese Li Jinlong spoke respectively, expressing sincere blessings and heartfelt thanks to his alma mater for his birthday.

  [Explanation] Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College was established in October 1950 by Ms. He Xiangning and Mr. Liao Chengzhi, the principals of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the Central People’s Government under the kind care and instructions of Premier Zhou Enlai. "Secondary Cram School for Overseas Chinese Students" is the first cram school established by the People’s Republic of China to recruit returned overseas Chinese students.
