On September 27, 2020, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with President Bozkor of the 75th UN General Assembly.

Wang Yi congratulated Bozkol on his appointment as the chairman of the 75th UN General Assembly, saying that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, and the current UN General Assembly is of special significance.

President Xi Jinping recently attended the United Nations’ 75th anniversary series of high-level meetings in video mode and delivered important speeches, advocating the concept of multilateralism, maintaining the core position of the United Nations, calling for strengthening and improving global governance, and building a community with a shared future for mankind. Traditional challenges have proposed Chinese solutions.

Wang Yi pointed out that in the face of the new impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, all countries should unite more closely to form a joint international fight against the epidemic.

China supports the United Nations in playing an important role in this regard, and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with various United Nations systems, and at the same time jointly oppose the politicization and labelling of the epidemic, and adhere to the correct direction of international anti-epidemic cooperation.

Wang Yi expressed that China appreciates Mr. Chairman's priority for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is in line with the common aspirations of most countries, especially developing countries.

Poverty reduction and poverty alleviation are the most important goals of the 2030 Agenda, and we hope to take the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations as an opportunity to put sustainable development in a more important position.

Wang Yi emphasized that we have entered an era of global interconnection. In this global village, unilateralism, protectionism, and isolationism have no way out and are unsustainable.

Great power does not mean greater power, but greater responsibility.

As a permanent member of the Security Council, China will firmly support the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law.

Bozcol said that as the chairman of the UN General Assembly, the focus of this session is to promote the realization of the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to eradicate poverty and help countries in need, especially small and medium-sized countries.

Strengthening and defending multilateralism is a priority agenda of the General Assembly.

China is an advocate and important partner of multilateralism, and I look forward to strengthening cooperation with China in this regard.
