You should be able to turn to the health center or the municipal social services for help with gambling problems.
By law, it should be as easy as getting help for alcohol or drug problems.
In reality, care has not come as far.
Most of the county's municipalities do not provide information about help for gambling addiction - despite the fact that the law was changed as early as 2018. This is shown by SVT's review.
But despite the lack of information, there is help available, according to Region Västerbotten.
An example is the alcohol and drug clinic in Umeå, which despite its name also offers help for people who have problems with gambling.
- The treatment for those who apply with gambling problems is quite similar to that for alcohol abuse.
You call and tell them that you are in need of help and you are usually offered an appointment the next day.
You are offered up to five calls, says Gabriella Sjöström Green, public health developer.
Residents in Umeå, but also Bjurholm, Nordmaling, Vännäs, Vindeln and Robertsfors can turn there.
