"On September 27, a meeting of the Security Council was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev," the Azerbaijani State Agency said in a statement.

On September 27, hostilities resumed between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced that it was taking "retaliatory measures" against the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan "launched an offensive" in the Karabakh direction. 

The authorities of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh declared martial law.

They did the same in Armenia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed serious concern over the hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and stressed the need for an early ceasefire.
