As reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov said this during a conversation with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

The parties discussed the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"Sergey Lavrov expressed his serious concern over the ongoing large-scale hostilities on the line of contact, the incoming information about the killed and wounded," Lavrov said.

During the conversation, the need for an early ceasefire was emphasized. 

“It was noted that Russia, together with other co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, will continue to undertake mediation efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry also reported on the preparation of a conversation between Lavrov and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the parties to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to start negotiations in order to stabilize the situation.
