Host Michel Drucker, 78, underwent heart surgery on Saturday morning, an operation that went well but which will postpone his return to France 2 for a few weeks, a spokesperson for France told AFP. Televisions, confirming information from the Parisian.

According to the newspaper, the PAF veteran underwent an operation to unblock the coronary arteries, a preventive measure to "prevent any heart attack."

"Fortunately, Michel's surgery went well. He is combative and morale is good," the CEO of France Televisions Delphine Ernotte said on a daily basis.

No question, however, that the host of "Vivement dimanche", on the screen for more than half a century, retires from television.

The presenter, known for leading a very healthy lifestyle and his love of cycling, has always said he is not going to stop and the public service has confirmed he will stay on the air.

"His life is TV, he is at home at France Televisions, it is his house", repeated to Parisian Ms. Ernotte.

Simply, his convalescence will force him to delay his return to France 2, scheduled for October 18.

"It will not be on the air for a few more weeks," Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, the new head of programs and antennas at France Televisions, told the same newspaper.
