In Lille as in other large cities on health alert, bars will have to close from Monday between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Saturday evening, many young people gathered around a drink to celebrate their "last night".

REPORTAGE

"This is the last night we will try to mark the occasion."

Martin, a student in Lille, toasts with his friends.

They met on Saturday for a last evening before the bars close at 10 p.m., compulsory, as in Paris, from Monday.

“Everyone's going to want to dance one last time,” smiles Martin.

Behind the bar, the tenants anticipate a heavy loss on their turnover.

"We're going to lose a lot of customers"

Rue Massena, "street of thirst" as the people of Lille call it, young people crowd on the terrace and inside bars.

"We are full in reservations," explains Lucas, owner of a street establishment.

He is preparing for difficult weeks.

"From next week, I know that I have a lot of customers who will come more, who think that if they have to leave at 10 pm, there is no point in coming. We will lose a lot of customers."

This manager estimates for the moment his loss at 60% of turnover, or 12,000 euros.
