The US president has reportedly chosen Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative judge, to join the US Supreme Court after the death last week of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Donald Trump will announce on Saturday at 11 p.m. the name of the new judge who should join the US Supreme Court after the death, last week, of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

According to media across the Atlantic, the US president should appoint the conservative judge Amy Coney Barrett, described as an "extraordinary" woman by Donald Trump himself.

He hesitated so far between three women.

Amy Coney Barrett is a 48-year-old judge known for her chiseled arguments and traditionalist religious beliefs.

Originally from New Orleans, Justice Barrett is a devout Catholic.

She and her husband are raising seven children, two of whom are adopted and from Haiti.

Opposed to the right to abortion

This law professor is personally opposed to the right to abortion and has already hinted that she could approve restrictive proposals on the subject of voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion).

If the magistrate is confirmed by the Senate with a Republican majority, the US Supreme Court will then lean to the right with six conservative judges and three progressives.

This nomination, if accepted, would also galvanize the electorate of Donald Trump and in particular the evangelists.

Democrats criticize too quick a decision.

They believe that Donald Trump should have waited for the US presidential election in November and let the next president-elect appoint a judge to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
