SVT Nyheter Småland has previously reported on birds that soiled the new town hall in Växjö before it was even inaugurated.

The municipality has now started a project to help more people make the birds less interested in being in the center.

- We see that there is an increased problem with birds, especially during spring and summer, when there are a lot of people moving outside.

A lot of birds and close-up birds that we have received complaints about and now we will try to make it a minor problem, says Malin Engström who is head of technical administration.

The work began this spring and next year the municipality hopes to launch a broad campaign to get everyone to help.

Bird problems for several years

According to Malin Engström, the measures may be that the technical administration, for example, inspects the bins so that birds cannot get in there and tear out rubbish.

It can also be about restaurants and cafes getting better at making sure that dishes and leftovers are not left out, but also that the residents help.

- It can, for example, be about throwing rubbish in the trash and not feeding the birds.

- It's nice with some birds.

But we do not want it to be perceived as unpleasant and that they are approached.

That they learn that they get food if they get close.

We want a natural bird population, says Malin Engström.

But this has been a problem for several years, have not those measures helped?

- The difference now is that we will try to do it at the same time and together, says Malin Engström.
