On Friday, while the police tracked down the perpetrator of the stabbing attack in front of the premises of "Charlie Hebdo", thousands of young people were confined to their schools.

A device that has become a habit: since 2015, the number of safety exercises in schools has multiplied

REPORTAGE

On Friday, several thousand students from the 11th, 3rd and 4th arrondissements of Paris were unable to leave their establishment in the afternoon.

Nearly 125 high schools, colleges and schools were confined due to the knife attack which occurred on rue Nicolas Appert in the 11th arrondissement, in front of the former premises of

Charlie Hebdo

, and while the perpetrator was on the run.

This confinement has been a source of anguish for many, but overall the new generation is ready.

Because they have, as for the fire risk, regular exercises.

"People take exercise more seriously"

And according to Amélie, a student in a high school in the 11th arrondissement, there has been real awareness in recent years.

"I think that in all, we do two exercises a year. I have the impression that it is more important and that people take it more seriously", explains the high school student.

Since the November 2015 attacks, measures have indeed been stepped up in the vicinity of schools.

However, the protocol applied on Friday was restricted.

As the attack did not target a high school, college or school, it mainly consisted of confining the students within their establishment.

Some primary schools have nevertheless made a point of bringing them together in one and the same room… before letting them drop out in a drip, class by class.
