Emmanuel Macron will speak Sunday evening at a press conference on the political situation in Lebanon after the announcement of the Lebanese Prime Minister who has just given up on forming a new government, announced the Elysee Palace on Saturday.

The head of state, whose press conferences at the Elysee Palace are very rare, obviously wishes to intervene after the failure of the Lebanese political parties to form a government by mid-September, as they had committed before him in Beirut.

"There will be consequences"

Emmanuel Macron, who has visited the capital twice since the explosion that devastated the port and part of the city in early August, warned on September 2 that the rapid formation of a government and the implementation of reforms demanded by the international community were the condition for the release of billions of euros in international aid promised to the country.

"If the promises are not kept by October, there will be consequences," he said after his meeting with Lebanese political forces in Beirut.
