Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, won Formula 2 on Saturday in Sochi (Russia), approaching the title and strengthening his chances of securing a seat in a Formula 1 team. next season.

He also becomes one of the main contenders for a seat in the Alfa Romeo (ex-Sauber) team in F1 next season.

The Swiss team, which uses Ferrari engines, is expected to offer Mick Schumacher the opportunity to take part in a free practice session with one of his cars next month at the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring in Germany.

She has not yet announced the composition of her team for the 2021 season. But Mick Schumacher could replace Antonio Giovinazzi, current Alfa Romeo teammate of Kimi Räikönen.

The latter, oldest of the F1 field at 40, has not yet officially announced whether he will continue next year.

Mick Schumacher competes with other drivers from the Ferrari Young Driver Academy, of which he is a member.
