The boat owner alerted the police to Vålarö outside Nyköping at 10 pm on Friday.

But with the help of the boat's gps, the owner was able to follow the boat and saw that it was in the water.

- We had help from the Coast Guard and at 10.30 pm the owner could see that the boat seemed to be ashore a couple of minutes from the place where it had been taken.

The GPS did not give an exact positioning so we had to look a bit, but it led us to the right area, says Åsa Willsund, the police's spokesperson.

The police are looking for witnesses

At 23.45, the police were able to find the 10 meter long boat worth SEK 1.7 million in a secluded bay.

The police searched for the perpetrators with a dog but without results.

The boat lacked one engine and the police do not currently know if the perpetrators intended to take the entire boat or stole it to take the engines.

- We are very interested in getting in touch with witnesses.

The perpetrators should have had a car to transport the engine and maybe a trailer so people and vehicles are of interest to us, says Åsa Willsund.
