September 26, 2020 The disturbance that hit central-southern Europe will continue to hit Italy in the next few hours with rains and thunderstorms throughout the Central South.

Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection has issued a new weather alert that extends the one widespread yesterday and that foresees widespread rainfall, locally also very intense and accompanied by hailstorms, lightning and strong gusts of wind, starting today. on Sardinia, in extension from the early hours of tomorrow to Tuscany, Lazio, Umbria, Marche, Emilia-Romagna, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily.

Storm winds are also expected tomorrow on Sardinia, Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia.

In consideration of the expected phenomena, the Department also assessed an orange alert on six regions: western Calabria, southern sectors of Lazio, northern sectors of Puglia and some sectors of Basilicata, Campania and Sardinia.



Hail and wind in six regions


The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.

Moreover, from the early hours of tomorrow, strong gale force or gale winds are expected, from the western quadrants to Sardinia and from the southern quadrants to Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia, rotating from the western quadrants in the afternoon, starting from Sicily.

There are storm surges along the exposed coasts.

On the basis of the expected and ongoing phenomena, an orange alert was assessed for tomorrow, Sunday 27 September, on western Calabria, on large southern sectors of Lazio, northern sectors of Puglia and on some sectors of Basilicata, Campania and Sardinia.

Yellow alert on Emilia Romagna, in all central and southern regions, including the remaining areas of Sardinia, and on all of Sicily. 



Lazio and Rome on alert tomorrow and Monday


The Civil Protection Department has issued the warning of adverse weather conditions indicating that from tomorrow morning and for the following 18-24 hours, scattered to widespread rainfall is expected on Lazio thunderstorm character.

The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, local hailstorms, frequent electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.

The Regional Functional Center carried out the assessment of the Alert / Criticality Levels and therefore forwarded an orange alert bulletin for hydrogeological and temporal criticalities on the Rome Basins, Southern Coastal Basins and Liri Basin;

yellow alert for hydrogeological criticality and hydrogeological criticality for thunderstorms on the North Coastal Basins, the Middle Tiber Basin, the Rieti and Aniene Apennines;

yellow alert for hydraulic problems on the North Coastal Basins, Rome Basins, Aniene, South Coastal Basins and Liri Basin.
